Worldshapers:
Accelerating Social Change

About Worldshapers

Worldshapers is a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to catalyzing and empowering thought leaders who are committed to making a positive impact on some of the most urgent issues globally.

Worldshapers is focused on specific large-scale issues that are currently and potentially significant causes of human and non-human suffering. The cause areas we are interested in have been selected based on assessments of their significance, their relative neglectedness, and the extent to which changes in culture and discourse can be expected to create meaningful improvements.

We support visionaries by helping them turn their ideas into influential books and other media, expanding their audience, and fostering meaningful change. Many motivated advocates possess the vision but lack the resources or platforms to effectively share their message. Worldshapers bridges this gap by providing comprehensive support to emerging thought leaders, enabling them to refine their ideas, create compelling arguments, and distribute their message to the right audiences. By amplifying these voices, we aim to accelerate progress toward a more just, equitable, and resilient world.

Our Team

Mikko Järvenpää

Mikko is the founder and executive director of Worldshapers, the nonprofit that helps experts write and publish high-impact books and get them in front of the right people. Mikko brings a background in tech marketing and communications–including being one of the early product marketing managers at Google and leading Infogram (acquired by Prezi) as CEO–experiences he applies to shape clear, effective strategies for the positioning and distribution of mission-driven ideas. Through Worldshapers’ small-press imprint, Books of Change, Mikko supports authors with writing coaching, publishing strategy, PR and media outreach, platform building, and launch marketing.

Mikko’s work focuses on ideas with outsized leverage, especially improving the treatment of farmed animals and accelerating the end of factory farming. Worldshapers’ projects are built for high-impact audiences such as policymakers, philanthropists, entrepreneurs, and opinion leaders, with an emphasis on strategy and practical execution. Mikko is known for turning ambitious concepts into clear narratives, credible proposals, and coordinated campaigns that help ideas reach the right audiences.

Jasmin Singer

Jasmin is a literary agent and Director of Author and Media Development at Worldshapers, where she helps mission-driven experts turn ambitious ideas into books, media, and public narratives that reach the audiences with the power to create change. In her role, she works closely with authors from early concept through launch strategy, shaping positioning, structure, and messaging so each project lands with clarity, credibility, and momentum. She is known for blending editorial rigor with an instinct for story, supporting authors who are ready to influence culture, policy, and industry with work that is both persuasive and deeply human.

Jasmin is also a longtime media professional and the co-host of the award-winning Our Hen House podcast, where she has helped bring animal protection conversations to a wide public through interviews, analysis, and storytelling. In addition, she is a host on WXXI, Rochester’s NPR member station, where she brings nuance, curiosity, and depth to conversations about environmental and social justice. She is the author of Always Too Much and Never Enough: A Memoir (Berkley, 2016) and The VegNews Guide to Being a Fabulous Vegan (Hachette, 2020). Across her writing, speaking, and agenting, Jasmin returns to the same core belief: when we tell the truth well, we create the conditions for people to care, and for systems to change.

Marielle Vigneau-Britt

As Operations Coordinator for Worldshapers, Marielle’s work focuses on organizational effectiveness and mission-driven storytelling. Her background spans digital media production, video editing, social media strategy, and content development, with a particular emphasis on supporting pro-animal and social impact initiatives. For years, Marielle operated her own media and content business, an experience that required her to wear many hats–creative director, editor, strategist, producer, and operator. Managing projects end to end strengthened her ability to build systems, oversee workflows, and take full ownership of both vision and execution.

At Worldshapers, Marielle plays a cross-functional role across content and operations. She supports author interviews, podcast and video production, and digital campaigns that amplify ideas aimed at improving the world. Alongside her creative work, she helps design and implement effective organizational systems, including leading the team’s transition to Notion and building scalable processes that improve clarity, collaboration, and execution. Her work bridges storytelling and structure, and ensures that strong ideas are matched by strong internal systems. Marielle is especially passionate about advancing animal advocacy and using media as a tool to engage, delight, and inspire meaningful change.
