Writing Incubation Program

Join a community of bloggers and writers with a commitment to write, publish, and grow your audience.

Apply now for our first WIP intake in mid-January 2027.

The Writing Incubation Program (WIP) is for people who want to publish regularly on a blog, newsletter, or similar channel and reach the right people. We work with writers at every level of experience, from people who have never published online to people with an established readership.

Over an initial 3-month bootcamp upon joining WIP, you’ll define your goals, your audience, and your media strategy. You will receive support in writing, and a peer group of other writers. For the last two of the three months, you’ll commit to publishing at least once per week.

Upon successful completion of the bootcamp, you’ll continue to enjoy access to the community and the editorial and marketing resources and services provided by Worldshapers.

Why Join WIP?

Publishing regularly for a specific readership involves more than writing. It takes research into who your readers are and what influences them, editing before each piece goes out, and promotion relevant to your target and goals. In WIP, Worldshapers provides this and more through a structured process and expert assistance, while you build a writing and publishing process that fits your situation.

By the end of the bootcamp, you’ll have two months of published work behind you and a routine you can keep to.

What To Expect

The program consists of two parts. A three-month bootcamp takes you from wherever you are now to a purposeful weekly (or more frequent) publishing habit. After that, you continue in the program on an ongoing basis.

  1. Month 1: Audience, strategy, and process. You work with a writing coach and a PR professional to decide who you are writing for, where you will publish, and how you will fit regular writing into your week.
  2. Months 2 and 3: Weekly publishing. You publish once a week, unless we agree on a different cadence together. You’ll have access to editorial support and a peer group.

After the bootcamp: You decide your ongoing publishing cadence, and as long as you keep to it, you continue to have access to editorial support, PR support, and the peer group, with no end date.

We ask you to commit to publishing weekly for at least two of the three onboarding months, and to be open to coaching and editing. If a weekly cadence does not fit your situation, let us know so that we can discuss other more realistic and replicable options that work for you.

Applications are open on a rolling basis, and after admission, we invite you to join one of our monthly intakes.

What You Get

  • An audience strategy. In the first weeks, you work out who you are writing for and what they expect from a trusted messenger.
  • Long-term goal and a map to get there. A plausible yet ambitious “north star” that is worth aiming for focuses your work and keeps you on track.
  • Writing coaching. During the bootcamp, a coach helps you set up a writing process that fits your work.
  • Professional PR support. A plan for where to publish, how to pitch, and how owned media and earned media work together in your strategy.
  • A repeatable process and tools. You leave the bootcamp with a system for managing your writing, publishing, and promotion, whether you run it yourself or with a PR specialist.
  • A peer group. You can choose to join a group of other writers for peer editing, feedback, and other support.

What We Are Looking For

Worldshapers works with writers in farmed animal welfare, food system change, and effective altruism, especially effective careers and giving. Your subject should fall within one of these areas.

We are looking for people who know a subject well and want to write about it regularly. You may have published for years, or you may never have written a post. Either way, you have something to say, and you want a dependable way to say it.

You might be:

  • A researcher or practitioner who wants people in policy, philanthropy, or industry to take a new moral idea seriously.
  • A coach, counselor, or founder who writes for people making big decisions about their careers or their giving.
  • A professional who wants to write about an issue for colleagues in your own sector, such as finance, healthcare, or food.
  • A writer with an existing readership who wants a regular publishing schedule and professional support behind it.

We also welcome people who publish video or audio instead of written posts, as long as the rest of the criteria fit.
